Dolores's Story

**Adoption visits are by appointment only** If you see an animal you're interested in, fill out an adoption questionnaire on our website https://everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet

Meet Dolores! Dolores is a sweet and spirited little lady who’s been through a lot recently. She was possibly hit by a car, which resulted in serious injuries—including a broken jaw that required surgical repair and the amputation of her front right leg. Despite it all, Dolores has shown incredible resilience and has adapted beautifully to life as a tripod. Her strength and charm shine through every day!
From the moment she arrived in her foster home, Dolores made herself comfortable and quickly became part of the family. She’s curious and loves to explore, so her forever home should be mindful of small spaces where she might sneak into or get stuck. She’s not one to hide—Dolores enjoys being in the same room as her people and will likely bring that same warmth to her new home.
Dolores is a toy enthusiast! She adores catnip, kicker toys, and peacock feathers are a big hit too. She’s very food motivated, which makes her easy to train, but she’s also working on shedding a few pounds to stay healthy and mobile as a tripod. A cozy, heated cat bed is her favorite spot to relax, and she doesn’t mind a gentle brushing session.
While Dolores enjoys human company, she also values her independence. She may occasionally seek out a warm lap, but more often she prefers her own comfy seat. She sleeps deeply and can startle easily—gently blowing air on her is a good way to wake her up. Around mealtime, she becomes quite vocal—possibly louder than she realizes, as she may not hear herself well!
Dolores is a unique and loving companion looking for a home that appreciates her gentle spirit, playful nature, and courageous heart. Could you be the one to give her the forever home she deserves?

Everett Animal Services's Adoption Policy
ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT To help keep our staff, volunteers and community healthy, we now handle all adoptions by appointment. Our shelter is not open for walk-in visitors but our awesome dogs, cats and other critters can all be viewed online. This enables us to comply with social distancing guidelines while still finding loving homes. How does this work? If you see an animal online you’re interested in, click on the Adoption Application button to visit the Everett Animal Shelter web page and submit an online adoption questionnaire. Our staff will review your questionnaire and contact you to discuss the adoption. We appreciate your patience as it may take up to a week to contact you. (Also, we sometimes receive multiple requests for the same animal. We try our best, but we may not be able to respond to every questionnaire submitted.) We will set up an adoption appointment using strict social distancing protocols, and many transactions are processed ‘curbside’ outdoors. Our staff will go over appointment details when they speak with you. Renters please bring rental pet policy at time of adoption. Not having the rental pet policy available may delay or nullify an adoption. Animals are usually able to go home right away, so be prepared for your new pet to leave with you when you visit the shelter for your appointment. Animals are added and removed from our website in real-time. If an animal is no longer listed on the page it usually means it has been adopted. CATS - Adult cats (over 6 months): $50 - $75 - Kittens (6 months and under): $150 - Two kittens adopted on the same day: $200 DOGS - Adult dogs (over 6 months): $175 - $250 - Puppies (6 months and under): $350 SMALL ANIMALS & BIRDS - Adoption fees vary based on species We accept Visa, MasterCard, or cash payments. We are not able to accept checks for payment of fees or services.
