Diva, the Cutest's Story
Meet Diva

Diva is a beautiful, approximately 2-year-old female cat with an incredibly gentle and affectionate soul. For more than a year, she lived around our car parking area, where I cared for her and got to know her wonderful personality. She had a particularly adorable habit of jumping into my car whenever she saw it, simply to explore and, of course, get some love.

Then, one day, Diva disappeared.

Five days later, she came back with a devastating injury to her tail. We don’t know exactly what happened, but her veterinarians believe she was most likely hit or had her tail run over by a car. It appears that, while trying to escape, she pulled herself away, resulting in a severe tail injury and partial detachment.

Diva underwent surgery to remove the damaged portion of her tail and was also spayed. After spending a significant amount of time in the hospital and later with her foster, she is now recovering remarkably well. Her wound has completely healed, and she is walking almost normally.

However, Diva’s injury affected the nerves involved in her bladder and bowel function. She currently needs assistance with urination and defecation, and her future adopter should be prepared for the possibility of urinary and fecal leakage. She will also need continued veterinary follow-up to assess her urinary and neurological function and determine whether her ability to toilet independently can improve over time.

Another issue we are currently monitoring is that Diva sometimes bites at her back, which may be related to the neurological effects of her injury. This also needs continued veterinary assessment and management.

Her personality

Despite everything she has been through, Diva has remained one of the sweetest cats I have ever met.

She is incredibly affectionate and has a calm, trusting personality. What amazes me most is how accepting she is of new experiences. When I gave her her first bath, she barely resisted. When I put a leash on her, she generally accepts it without much fuss. After everything she has endured — months in the hospital and in a cage with her foster — she still greets me with the same loving response every time.

When she sees me, she rubs her face against my hand as if she is saying thank you.

And honestly, there is something heartbreaking and beautiful about that. Diva calms me more than I calm her.

She seems to do best when she can receive plenty of individual attention and love, so I believe an experienced home where she can be the only pet may be ideal. She appears to tolerate dogs, although we would want any introduction to be slow and carefully managed.

The home Diva needs

Diva needs an experienced, patient and deeply compassionate adopter who understands that her medical needs may be ongoing. She should be an indoor-only cat and live with someone who has the time, commitment and resources to help her with toileting and maintain regular veterinary follow-up.

Her adopter should be comfortable with the possibility that she may have urine or stool leakage and understand that this is not something she can control.

She doesn’t need someone looking for a “perfect” cat.

She needs someone who can look beyond her medical condition and see the incredibly loving, resilient little soul underneath it.

Diva has already survived something she never should have had to experience. What she deserves now is a safe home, patience, dignity and someone who will never give up on her.

She has so much love left to give.

Diva is currently in Jordan but will come to America once we find the right adopter for her. She is fixed and up to date with her vaccinations.

PLEASE NOTE: We have experiencing technical issues with receiving inquires, so the best way to ensure we received your inquiry is to send an email to: admin@canaandog-alliance.org
