Diego is a gentle and sweet guy who is taking his time to adjust to life here, showing that he appreciates a calm and patient approach. We’re still getting to know Diego as he settles in, but he’s already shown glimpses of his affectionate and easygoing personality. We look forward to learning more about him and helping him find a loving home where he can feel safe, cherished, and truly comfortable. Since March 13, 2026, Diego the cat has waited at the shelter with quiet resilience, his gentle heart full of hope, ready to bring love and joy to the home that’s patiently waiting for him. He is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives. Capital Area Humane Society's Adoption Policy

The purpose of our adoption criteria is to ensure a consistent, fair process and to provide every potential adopter with an equal opportunity to welcome a new pet into their home. All animals are adopted to individuals who agree to follow the guidelines outlined in the adoption contract. Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and are required to complete an adoption questionnaire, as well as provide valid identification and proof of current residence. Pets are placed in homes where they will be cared for primarily as indoor companions, and adopters must commit to providing lifelong care, including proper food, water, shelter, and regular exercise. Animals may be adopted as gifts in accordance with our gift adoption policy. Additionally, to ensure the safety and well-being of our animals, we do not proceed with adoptions to individuals who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
