Dexter's Story
My name is Dexter, and I’m still searching for the person who isn’t coming back. I’m a 7-year-old long-haired orange tabby with white, and I came to the shelter on October 21, 2025, along with four other cats after our beloved owner passed away. One day, we had a home filled with warmth and routine, and the next, we were here, confused and grieving. The staff say I’m incredibly sweet, but I’m also so unsure about this new life. When someone comes to talk to me, part of me wants to disappear, to pretend I’m invisible, even though what I really need is to be seen. I’m trying to be brave, but I miss the quiet comfort of a home where I once felt safe. I’m neutered, litterbox trained, and I get along well with other cats. There are no geographical adoption restrictions, so anyone can come meet me. What I need most is patience, gentle love, and someone who understands that healing takes time, especially after losing everything familiar. Please, come meet me and help me rediscover what love feels like.
