Desert Rose's Story

Desert Rose is a beautiful 5-year-old tabby cat weighing just 6 pounds, but don't let her tiny size fool you--this sweet girl has a huge heart and so much love to give.

Desert Rose is both playful and affectionate, and once she feels comfortable, she is incredibly generous with her attention. She loves spending time with her people and is happiest when she's curled up nearby, soaking up affection and sharing her deep, soothing purr. Cuddling is one of her favorite activities, and she's always happy to accept gentle pets from her favorite humans.

Like many sensitive cats, Desert Rose can be shy when faced with new surroundings. In her previous home, it took her about 2-3 weeks to fully settle in and feel comfortable. Even while she was adjusting, she still came out of hiding for pets and attention, showing just how much she enjoys human companionship. Patience and understanding will help her blossom into the loving companion she truly is.

One thing to know about Desert Rose is that she is not a fan of being picked up and prefers to keep all four paws on the ground. She appreciates affection on her own terms and will reward gentle respect with plenty of love and purrs.

If you're looking for a tiny, affectionate, cuddly companion who will fill your home with warmth, quiet companionship, and a wonderful purr, Desert Rose may be the perfect match for you.

To get started in the process of meeting Desert Rose, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form (you may also complete this step upon arrival), and then visit the Adoption Center to speak with an adoption counselor.

No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form - this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog/cat. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)!

Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member.

Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
