DC's Story

Hi, I'm DC! My name stands for "Donated Cat," because I was found in a cat carrier tucked into the shelter's donation bins. It wasn't the way anyone hoped my story would begin, but it's only one chapter of my life.
When I first arrived, my fur looked like it had been shaved and was just starting to grow back. These days, though, my coat has grown in beautifully, and I'm feeling so much more like myself!
I'm a calm, independent girl who enjoys the simple things in life. My favorite pastime? Finding the perfect sunny spot to stretch out and soak up the warmth. I don't need to be the center of attention all the time—I'm perfectly happy doing my own thing, but I also enjoy having kind people nearby.
I'm ready to leave my "Donated Cat" days behind and become someone's Devoted Cat instead. If you're looking for a laid-back companion who will quietly keep you company and bring a peaceful presence to your home, I just might be your perfect match. All I'm hoping for now is a cozy place to call home, plenty of sunshine, and someone to love me for the wonderful cat I am.

Animal Welfare Association's Adoption Policy
We believe in an open, judgement-free adoption process. We try to match a person’s pet expectations so fewer pets are returned. Under normal conditions the process is: - Come in with your family and look around. If you see a pet that you like, ask staff to meet the pet (if the pet is available to be taken out). Sometimes we need to have the entire household meet the pet. - Complete the adoption questionnaire. Review the information we have on file about the pet and his/her past experience. - Finish the process by having a conversation with our adoption staff. - Usually, if a dog is going into a home with another dog, they will need to meet each other prior to adoption. If the pet is not yet spayed or neutered, he or she will have to be fixed prior to adoption. - We will not adopt a pet to anyone under the age of 18. - We will not adopt to anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. - We reserve the right not to place a pet in a home based on the information we have or if we feel the pet is not a match for the person’s lifestyle. *Please note that all animal meets will stop being conducted an hour before we close daily.
