Dash's Story

Hi! I am Dash, a very quiet, reserved and peaceful kitty. I am a domestic shorthaired charcoal gray cat with striking gold eyes. I have soulful eyes and like to keep to myself. I avoid the drama that other kitties cause and I am often found curled up in a hidey hole. This doesn't mean I am anything less than the other outgoing and social kitties - it just means I am scared of new people and surroundings. For this, I am going to need a quiet home.

Life hasn't always been easy for me. Prior to my stay at the shelter, I got into an altercation with another animal - most likely an unprovoked attack since I prefer to stay by myself. I got a bite wound on my front left leg and it abscessed. It went untreated and the infection spread into my shoulder joint, causing me a tremendous amount of pain and discomfort. The infection eroded the shoulder joint and now it's bone on bone - causing me tremendous pain and discomfort to the point I cannot bear weight. After being evaluated by a doctor, it was decided it would be best for me to have my leg amputated because I am in so much pain and I don't have much function. I had my surgery and I will be feeling better soon. Yes, this means I have 3 functioning legs but my shelter family and doctor assure me my quality life will improve and I have a positive outlook without any limitation for my future.

I am neutered, and I am up to date on my vaccines - distemper and rabies. I have been FIV/Feline Leukemia tested and I am negative for both. I receive routine flea and tick preventatives, monthly as well as some well deserved pampering periodically: brushing, nail trims & ear cleaning.

My ideal home includes a quiet and calm home. I tolerate other kitties without issue. I like to keep to myself, usually in a hidey-hole. I do not know how I would do with dogs. I would do best in a home with that is very quiet, low activity and noise since those things terrify me easily. Older kids are probably ok, but younger ones would likely scare me.

I need a family that is caring, compassionate and loving. I want a family that is patient, willing to give me what I need: a warm bed, plenty of good food & clean water, and good ol' pets and love. Once I warm up, I enjoy being pet and loved on. I like to observe the world go by from a hidey hole or a safe distance.

My shelter family works tirelessly to ensure I and my friends go to the right family. If you feel that person is you, I'd love to meet you. Please submit an application if you'd like to be considered becoming my family!
