Daryl's Story

This is Daryl. She is special needs due to no socialization as a kitten. She deserves a quiet home with a patient pet parent, that understands the needs of these special cats. Our dream is that she will find a home that lets her be comfortable and who loves her for the kitty she is.

She is about 1-1.5 years old. She is from a hoarding situation in a home that is best described as NASTY. The foster that retrieved her said you couldn't step anywhere without stepping in animal feces. Several of the cats had eye infections so severe they lost an eye, sadly Daryl was one of the unfortunate ones. She also lacked any affection or attention. She surprised us with 3 healthy kittens shortly after coming into foster care. While she hadn't been socialized properly she allowed the foster mom to clean their area, litter box, and handle the kittens.

Daryl is very shy. When she forgets humans are around we love to watch her play and wrestle with her kittens. She loves to sun on the cat tree and in the windows. She loves lick-able treats and will come to the package as we hold it. We have witnessed no aggression. She does follow her foster mom around and is very vocal. She will get within inches of the foster but won't make the final little contact. When the foster has to handle her for medications and vaccinations, she obviously doesn't like it, but she isn't aggressive. She plays well with the foster's other cats and kittens. She has been exposed to many dogs as the foster is primarily a dog foster, she chooses to retreat.

SCDR has cats for adoption at both PetSmart Stores in Lubbock as well as Pet Supplies Plus on 82nd Street. All cats have vaccinations and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

Email us for more information on our adoption process.
