Courtesy Post - Paulie Walnuts's Story

** PLEASE NOTE: this cat is not at our facility or in our adoption program however we are courtesy posting him in hopes of helping him find his forever home. **

Meet Paulie Walnuts!!

Age- approx. 1-2 year old male, neutered

Paulie Walnuts was a stray that followed us home one night in the early spring. He was immediately so loving, came over to us when we called him, and even let us put him in a carrier right away to see if he was chipped. It was cold and rainy that night, so we decided to bring him in. After a search for his owner was unsuccessful, we decided to try to keep him.

Paulie is a very energetic, loving cat. He will sit right on your chest and give you kisses on your nose. He loves attention and affection. He goes crazy for feather wand toys, springs, and catnip.

He is an expert biscuit maker, especially in his cozy round bed. He is also very food motivated and loves any kind of treats- soft treats, crunchy treats, chicken flavor, fish flavor, tube treats, wet food, dry food- you name it, he will eat it.

He is well-mannered. He has had zero litter box accidents, uses his scratching post, and has not shown any destructive behavior. He will occasionally meow and talk with you, definitely will meow at you when you're preparing his wet food, but otherwise settles down well and sleeps through the night without noise.

We are looking to rehome Paulie because his one downside is that he does not get along well with our other cats in the home. While they do not hiss or fight, he is simply too rough with them and pounces on them frequently. He also requires close supervision at food time because he will try to eat their food.

We have tried many different solutions to help this behavior without success, and have ultimately come to the difficult decision that he either needs to be the only cat in the home, or with a feline companion would match his high energy levels and rough playtime.

He is currently on kitty Prozac which we started in coordination with our vet to try to help with his high energy levels. He takes it no problem with his wet food. It has improved his hyperactivity around our other cats some, but unfortunately not enough to where we think we could keep him in the long term.

His new family could continue this medication, or he could be taken off of it in coordination with a vet if his new family so chooses. This is not a required medication for him but rather something we were trying to help him.

He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines. We do not know how he would do around children or dogs.

We are requiring a small rehoming fee to ensure that he goes to a safe, loving home. We truly feel he will make an excellent kitty companion for someone, unfortunately our home is just not the right fit for him. We want what is best for Paulie.

Any interested adopters can contact me by call or text Kellie at 586-265-7670.
