Cosette's Story

Age: 9 Months

Sex: Female, spayed

Weight: 5.9 lbs

Meet Cosette!

Cosette is a 9-month-old, 5.9-pound fluffy little tabby with a heart-shaped nose, a big fluffy tail, and a soft personality tucked into her petite frame. She’s a beautiful mix of warm gold and brown, and once you get to know her, you’ll discover a sweet, playful girl who has so much more to offer than she may show at first.

Cosette is a sensitive soul who has been working hard on building her confidence with people. When she first arrived to our shelter, she was very fearful, and she can still feel unsure when someone new approaches her or enters her space. She may hiss or move away when she is nervous, but with a little time, she is able to quickly recover, approach on her own terms, and show you that she really does want to connect.

And when Cosette decides you're okay? Her sweet side starts to shine. She has been known to lean into pets, stretch up for neck and shoulder scratches, give an enthusiastic “elevator butt,” and even roll onto her back while playing. She loves interactive toys, especially wand toys, and play can be a great way to help her feel comfortable and build trust.

Cosette also enjoys the company of other cats. She seems to take confidence from her feline friends and may watch them interact with people before deciding that she wants to join in, too. A confident cat companion could be a wonderful friend for her as she continues learning that people can be pretty great.

Cosette will need a patient, understanding person who is willing to let her set the pace. She isn't likely to be the cat who marches right up to a new person and immediately asks for attention. Instead, her relationship with you may begin with a little distance, some playtime, and plenty of observing from a safe spot. But as she gets comfortable, you'll start to see those little moments that tell you she's choosing to trust you... approaching you, leaning into your hand, playing nearby, or asking for scratches.

Cosette has already made so much progress, and we think there is still so much more of this sweet little girl waiting to come out. She just needs someone who will be willing to see it, give her the time she needs, and celebrate all of those little wins along the way.

*To fill out an adoption application for Cosette, click 'visit our profile page', then under 'adoption policy' click the 'adoption application' button!
