Cooper's Story

Poor Cooper was dealt a bad hand...this sweet 5 yr old guy came in as a stray after living outside for some time. Unfortunately he has leukemia which means his life will be short. We don't know when he contracted it but he is healthy and not symptomatic at this point. The average lifespan for a leukemia cat is 2 1/2 years from the time of contraction. We know this is a hard ask because nobody wants to go through losing a pet so soon but he deserves to be warm, happy and get cuddles until his time is up. Because Leukemia is highly contagious to other cats he needs to be the only cat in the home...unless you have another positive cat. He would do best in a quiet home without stress since being stressed will exacerbate things. Because he is a little on the shy side a home with young children is not suitable for him as he will be nervous. He is a quirky guy (aka weirdo cat) because he has this odd reaction to anything that happens...he hisses but it's not aggression, it seems to just be a coping mechanism for him. Open the door to fast ..he hisses, he rolls off your lap while you are petting him...he hisses, open his carrier at the vet...he hisses, then he is fine, he has never gotten fresh at all and he is super sweet. He's just a weirdo...probably because that behavior got everything he came in contact with that scared him when he was living outside to go away so now it's his default behavior.
