Cookie Monster 's Story

Meet Cookie Monster!

This handsome 2 year old tabby and white gentleman is such a love bug. He adores people and being loved on. He is a huge fan of being held like a baby and cuddled. This guy was allowed to be indoor/outdoor and got into scuffles with neighborhood kitties causing part of one of his ears to be ripped off. We believe this guy is truly a lover and not a fighter and may have been victim to bullying whilst being outside, he doesn't have antagonist energy, just a sweet boy with stellar vibes. He spends most of his day loafing on his blankies or looking out the window.

Unfortunately do to this fighting he contracted FIV.
What is FIV?
It is a virus that affects a cat's immune system, making it harder for them to fight off infections. It's often compared to HIV in humans but is specific to cats and cannot be transmitted to people or other animal species
How is it spread?
Primarily through bite wounds, commonly seen in outdoor, unneutered male cats.
Common misconceptions:
• It is not spread through shared resources like contact while sharing food/water bowls or even grooming.
• It is not transmittable to humans or non-feline pets.
• It is not a death sentence! FIV+ cats can live long, happy lives!

He is UTD on vaccines and just awaiting his neuter, he will be all set before he heads to his furrever home!

Are you willing to open your heart to this handsome fella? If so feel free to come in Tuesday-Saturday from 10-4 (closed 12-1 for lunch) or fill out an application!!

https://www.arlfr.org/adopt/adoption-application
