Cookie & Cocoa's Story

Introducing our Sweet Treats litter. This very adorable gaggle of kittens was born in our care after their parents were abandoned when their momma was heavily pregnant. The litter has grown up around other cats and children, and has heard the sounds of the family dog in the house. They are well-socialized, very friendly, affectionate, and will do well in most family homes.

Cookie & Cocoa are looking for a home together. Although these two do have slight difference in their personalities, they are never far from one another and can almost always be found curled up napping together. They both have mostly black coats with faint stripes throughout and green eyes. Cookie has a tiny white tuft under her chin, which is the best way to tell the two of them apart.

Both kittens are playful and love to play with each other. They love to climb and enjoy napping at the top of the scratching post together. They get along well with most people, but what they love most is each other! That's why it's really important to us that they stay together.

Both Cookie and Cocoa are friendly and like pats. They like attention but are not needy or clingy. They are quite comfortable being picked up and pet or having somebody they know come to them and give them attention. However, it takes a little bit of time for them to get to know new people before they are really comfortable with them. They sleep cuddled up next to their foster family when they get the chance.

These two have grown up around other animals and would be happy being adopted into a home with an existing cat. However, the two of them are a great pair and they will do juts fine as the only pets in the home as well. We are unsure how they will be around dogs. They've been in a home with a dog their whole lives but she lives in a different space because she's a bit too big and rambunctious for young kittens. They may be OK if it's a quiet, laid back, cat-savvy dog that respects their space.

Although this pair have grown up around children, the kids in their foster home are older, very cat-savvy and very respectful. They may do Ok in a home with older children or teens, but they will do best in a quiet home with a calm vibe that can allow them to thrive.

If you are interested in adopting Cookie & Cocoa, please visit https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/ for information about our adoption process and to find a copy of our online adoption application.

Victoria Pet Adoption Society's Adoption Policy
Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and a big responsibility. Dogs can live 15 years or more, and cats can live 20+ years. Like people, each individual pet comes with its own set of baggage, needs, and personality traits. Because your new pet will depend on you to provide its basic needs, we need to be sure that you are educated and up to the challenge. Our adoption process allows us to ask you some questions about your home environment, your lifestyle, and your needs, expectations, and limitations. We want to be sure that your new pet is going to be just as happy in its new home as you are to have it there. A Successful Adoption Process Includes the Following Steps: To start the adoption process, please complete the online adoption application found at https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/. If our adoption team feels as though your home will be a great fit for one of our pets they will contact you to set up a visit supervised by the foster parent who can answer some of the questions you may have about the animal of interest. You will not be able to take the pet home the day of the visit. One of our volunteers will contact you after the visit and will open a dialogue with you based on the information provided in your application. We will talk about your home and family, as well as your experience with pets. We will ask you to tell us about the kind of life and care you can offer to the adopted pet, and we will inform you about any health or behavioural issues that you should be aware of. (For dogs only) Once an adoption is pending, we will come visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for the pet in question, based on its needs. We can advise you of modifications that could make the adoption more successful, such as fencing and other things you may not have thought about. The adoption process generally takes several days, and this time line is intentional. It allows you time to think about your decision so that you can be sure that you are comfortable with the decision that you’ve made. Adoptions are never approved within 48 hours of the application being submitted. Once we have successfully journeyed through the steps above, you can pick up your new friend to begin a wonderful life together! Signing an adoption contract is a requirement for every pet that is adopted. Adoption Fees are as Follows: Kittens (up to 12 months of age) $400 Adult Cats (1 yr - 8yrs) $300 Senior Cats (9 yrs and older) $250 Special Needs Cats (other than kittens) $250 Puppies (up to 12 months of age) $600 Adult Dogs (1 yr - 8yrs) $400 Senior Dogs (9 yrs and older) $300 Special Needs dogs (other than puppies) $300 Rabbits $50 Guinea Pigs $30 Rats/hamsters $20 Mice $10 Adoption fees for other species may vary
