Cloey ***Special Needs: Urinary, possible forever foster, bonded with Maisy***'s Story
Cloey: lovable, lazy, ultra purry, 16 yr old with no concept of personal space, possibly in need of a hospice home, a forever foster.

Cloey's story: I was adopted by my family from MSPCA in Methuen. I was an only child for about 4 or 5 years before my sister, Maisy, came along. It took some time to get to know her, but now we are inseparable for 12 years now.

My person, my kid human, moved out, so the family decided to find another home for us. Luckily, I got to stay with my sister, Maisy.

I am a gorgeous dark calico, and a vision if I do say so myself. In my old home, I would enjoy laying in front of the sliding door during the day with the sun beating down on me in the winter, spring, and fall, but it is a bit warm to do that in the summer. I also had a cat tower near a window which I also would frequent. In the new space, I also am a sun worshipper.

I was also known to sleep back to back with my sister as well. In the new space, same. We have these pet beds and cat pillows and fluffy things everywhere, so we rotate it out. We are always in close proximity to each other.

My sister and I both would play with wand toys at the old place, and on occasion play with mouse toys and balls, but at the new place, I let my sister be wild and crazy with the toys. My favorite past time at the new place is sleeping, and getting into my foster's face when it is time for bed.

Granted, I have no concept of personal space. I have this cat bed that is right next to my foster human, I lay in it and under her armpit... don't judge. She doesn't smell and it is very comfortable.

I also have a habit of stretching out my arm over her while she is trying to work on her laptop, or sleep. I just want her to know I am here.

When my former people were on the couch, I would feel the need to get up onto the couch and and walk on them. I will sit with them while getting pats, then would be on my way. I do like things in moderation. And if you were petting me too much, I will meow at you or a hit you with my paw with no claws to let you know my limit has been reached. If you chose to ignore me, I will hit with a claw or two next time.

But, my new human gets me. I never raise a finger to her. I love to yell for my human when she comes in my room and purr away while she pets me. I Basically purr when I see her. I am a big purrer. She set up this pillow by the window on a table, which is great for watching the world go by, and purr!

I am vocal when I am hungry, and used to call to my old family for dinner, like clockwork! No need to remind me when to eat. I used to get 1/3 of a cup in the AM and 1/3 at night. I also used to get some wet food mixed in at night as well on occasion. At the new place, though, they free feed, although I still eat about the same. The bonus is I get wet every night! SCORE!

I used to live with my sister and a Black Lab mix. This lab was one hyper pooch! I would tolerate her, but really could do without her. Maybe a calmer dog would be more my pace. I have only lived with my sister kitty, but other kitties come to visit me on occasion, and I don't mind. My sister, Maisy, is not very happy with them, though. She needs a chill pill!

I had crystals in my urine and a Urinary Tract Infection about 6 years ago, and was started on a urinary diet. In about May I went back to the vet because I was going more frequently, and the vet switched the food to a different urinary care diet. The food is about $109/bag for 20 lbs, which lasts about 3 months. Not a bad investment in me, if I do say so myself!

Then when I first got to my foster home, my foster mom noticed me trying to pee and not much coming out. It turns out, I had a UTI again. But... after the antibiotics were done, I still was not fixed. The vets did an ultrasound and x-ray, and didn't like what they saw. It may be bladder cancer. They put me on another drug, and we are going to see how it goes.

I am happy and purry still, but may need a forever home as a hospice if the drugs do not work.

I also had a cracked tooth, but my vet says it does not bother me, and I agree.

My ideal home would be in a home with people who will allow me to live out the rest of my days with my sister, and will hang out with us. Maybe a family with a mellow dog, or us as the only pets. Hyper dogs are not my thing! People are TOTALLY my thing!

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family.
