Cleo and Clementine's Story

Cleo and Clementine are survivors from a horrible hoarding situation where they were kept locked up in a cage since they were kittens with their three other sisters, a total of 5 girls in one cage. There were 7 other cats and 1 dog all kept locked up in separate cages.

They have had such sad lives, let's work together to make their dream of a forever family come true!!

For the last 3 to 5 years, all of the cats rescued from that situation had miserable lives.

* They were prisoners
* Except for the five females that were crowded in one cage, each of the other cats lived in a separate filthy cage, inches deep in urine and feces
* Sometimes they were fed and sometimes they weren't
* Rarely did they have water, and if they did, it was filthy
* Their litter box was not cleaned for months, with mold growing on top
* They were not let out of their cage
* They were not handled
* They didn't have a window to see the outside world
* There was no room for them to sleep comfortably, especially the 5 in one cage
* The only possible positions in the cage were standing, loafing, and sitting.
* There was no fresh air for them to breathe
* There was no sunshine to warm their body
* There were no distractions, no stimulation, no toys
* They did not receive veterinary care.

EVERY SINGLE DAY, of every month of every year, THEY SUFFERED IN SILENCE.

And yet, in spite of the SEVERE NEGLECT they endured, we see a glimmer of hope. We have now gotten to know each of these poor souls, and even the tiniest progress feels like success. And they have progressed so much.

CLEMENTINE and CLEO are bonded, both are orange girls, about 3 years old. They are tiny girls, and they are adorable!

They were the first two girls rescued. Clementine was practically bald from all of the stress grooming she did while locked in a crate. Since she has been with us, her fur has come back. And they have made such tremendous progress.

Cleo LOVES to be pet and will come to you with very little coaxing. Clementine (orange and white) is a little more reserved, but she will let you pet her. They both know when it is feeding time, and they are first in line meowing and telling you to hurry up. They love their meals. It is sad to think that there must have been many times when they went without food. And that their meowing was ignored or not heard since their cage was kept separate in another dark room.

They love to curl up and sleep on the cat beds or chairs in the office. We have not seen them play, and they probably don't know how to as they didn't have toys in their past life.

They are very sweet and do not have a mean bone in their body.

But that horrible past is behind them and it is all good from now on.

We are looking for a home for them that will have the patience and understanding that it will take time for them to adjust. They are still learning and we are confident that they will reach their full potential. They just need an opportunity.

If interested, please email Mirna at Mirnabowman.cdc@gmail.com
614-471-9000
Must be 24 or older.
Adoptions to Central Ohio homes only.
All dogs and cats in the home must be spayed/neutered.
Adoption Fee $100.00 for each cat.
