NY Cat Warriors, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process We aim to place each cat in a loving, lifelong home while keeping the process welcoming and supportive. After an initial inquiry (usually through Petfinder), we ask adopters to complete an application so we can learn about their home, experience with cats, and what they’re looking for in a companion. This helps us make the best possible match. We review applications and follow up by phone or video to answer questions and discuss the cat’s personality, transition period, and care needs. Approved adopters meet the cat (in person or virtually), and we conduct a brief home check to ensure basic safety measures are in place. All adopters sign an agreement outlining proper care and our return policy. Adoption fees help cover veterinary care. We provide vet records, transition advice, and post-adoption support, with check-ins at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months. If at any time an adopter can no longer keep their cat, the cat must be returned to us.
