Hello there, friend- Thanks for stopping by!<br/><br/>At Hobbes Haven our mission is to help shape and support a better life for feral & stray cat colonies in our varying communities of the Columbia River Gorge.<br/><br/>We want to introduce you to Cinder (don't forget her kittens Domino, Riddle & twins Harvey and Quinn)!<br/><br/>Cinder was a young mamma, and based on her age now she birthed her litter when she must have been 7 months old. Cinder was found as stray and removed from the streets in June 2025. One of our amazing foster families has been fostering her and her entire litter as they learn to be part of a home and a family in a safe and loving environment. <br/><br/>When Cinder first arrived, her original plan was to be spayed and returned asap to her outdoor neighborhood, but after receiving a firm "no, no one in the neighborhood wants to help take care of a community cat" from the home owner that found her in his basement, we had no choice but to keep her along with her babies as we found other options, leading to be one of the best outcomes for Cinder! The stars aligned and one of our newest foster volunteers stepped up into taking Cinder with her entire litter home! When she first arrived there, she was extremely shy and nervous, but with plenty of time, space, a safe environment, food she could count on, and the right human touch, she was allowed to bloom to become "so very sweet and with the right person she is really going to be the most loving cat", as reported by her foster mom. She is shy and cautions but is really warming up to the idea of warm and soft beds, towels and clean sheets. She is respectful of other cats and litter boxes, a very clean lady indeed! <br/><br/>Cinders was rescued with her litter of 5 kittens after they were born in the basement of a very old home in Hood River. The owner of the home discovered the mama cat, Cinder, sneaking into the basement, to find her in a small nook hiding a litter of newborn kittens! The house owner started leaving food out for the mama and indirectly helping to domesticate her. As our harsh summer weather started to peek through, this caregiver reached out to Hobbes Haven for support in removing the mama and kittens, so they had an adequate space to nurse, with the hopes they could be adopted. Hobbes Haven was able to rescue the entire family in June 2026 and has been working with mama Cinder and all of the kittens to get them ready for adoption!<br/><br/>Due to them being rescued together and tamed for domestication alongside one another, they have endured growth together that has bonded them. We dream of a home where Cinder can grow up with a pair of her kittens but are also open to her finding the right home with a lonely cat seeking an affectionate female partner. <br/><br/>Currently we have an estimated guess that Cinder was born late 2025. Her adoption fee will cover:<br/>- Her spay: ensuring he will have a kitten free future!<br/>- x1 FVRCP vaccine <br/>- 1 year rabies vaccine<br/>- x2-3 deworming treatments<br/>- Flea bath<br/>- Nail trims<br/>- Microchip with a lifetime subscription.<br/><br/>-----<br/><br/><br/>We hope to find families that will keep in touch with Hobbes Haven and update us with pictures and videos of our rescued friends! Remember that many times we have been fostering these kittens for many months, and that is another reason you know Hobbes Haven is a good-hearted organization to support, because our goal is to find the RIGHT homes, NOT a home RIGHT NOW.<br/>Here at Hobbes Haven we focus on supporting the health and well-being of feral and stray cat colonies via T-N-R-M (Trap- Neuter- Return- Monitor); if we encounter kittens or cats young enough or friendly enough to domesticate, we rescue them from those sites and work with them directly to get them healthy and ready for a second chance at life as a part of a family and a home. Our rescued cats and kittens are unique being that they were born as feral or stray cats, meaning it took more time and involvement to domesticate them may than others. When you support Hobbes Haven via your adoption and donations, you are helping a bigger ripple effect, because you are supporting existing feral cat colonies stop their cycle of suffering by getting all colony cats sterilized and vaccinated, but also offering a very rare second chance to a few lucky ones.<br/>At Hobbes Haven, your adoption fee helps us cover this Cinder's first veterinary care at one of our collaborating veterinary clinics in the Columbia River Gorge.<br/><br/>Up to the point of adoption, Hobbes Haven has covered the following out of pocket: spay, FVRCP vaccine/s, deworming, antifungal bath/s, nail trimmings, veterinary treatment for ailments as kittens (URI), food, cat supplies, daily care, etc. your donations help us cover these collective costs and truly make a difference!<br/><br/>-----<br/><br/>Interested in adopting Cinder?<br/>1.
