Chippy's Story

Meet Chippy! Chippy has been through a lot in her short life - after coming to TCR as a kitten she was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), and FeLV (feline leukemia). Because she has endured so much medically through her FIP journey, she is still a little shy. She would do best with a confident FeLV+ cat buddy in her forever home to help her adjust and feel comfortable.

Despite Chippy's history, she has always remained the sweetest little girl. She would even give her foster mom kisses after her FIP injections. She and her foster friend Misfit (also FeLV+) have become pretty close over the past couple of months - they would LOVE to be adopted together. They chase each other around the room and wrestle. Chippy also loves catnip toys, laying on top of her donut/tunnel cat bed, wand toys, and other chase toys. She also enjoys looking out the window and cuddling up in a blanket.

Chippy does not prefer to be held but can be handled easily. She will approach her humans and welcomes pets during wet food time. She LOVES her wet food and churu treats! Chippy would probably do okay in a home with older, quiet/calm, children and a calmer, cat savvy dog. She does not seem to mind her foster mom's small, older dog.

Chippy is about 1.5 years old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, vaccinated, and has tested FIV- and FeLV+ (progressive). This chronic illness doesn't currently affect Chippy's daily life much; however, the FeLV virus may eventually affect her health and lifespan, as FeLV impairs the cat's immune system. Becoming established with a vet supportive of treating an FeLV+ cat, controlling secondary infections, and treating other illnesses as they arise is essential to maintaining an FeLV+ kitty.

Are you Chippy's person who is going to love and spoil her, no matter what life throws at her next? Please apply to adopt this sweet and deserving kitty today.

Trash Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
Typically the potential adopter reaches out either with or without a specific cat in mind. We will usually ask questions about the type of cat the adopter is interested in (any preferences as far as gender, color, personality, etc.), as well as the sort of home the cat would be going to (any kids, other pets, etc.). If we have a cat or kitten who would be a good fit, the adopter can fill out our application for that animal. If not, the person can still fill out the app, and we will keep them if mind if we end up with a cat who we think would be a good fit. Once the app is reviewed/approved (including checking vet and landlord references), we would chat any further with the adopter if needed, and then schedule a meet and greet with them with the cat or kitten. If the animal and the adopter hit it off, the adopter would then fill out our adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee, and take the cat or kitten home!
