Chimera's Story

Chimera was abandoned in Baltimore at a very young age. With no alternatives, she learned to survive by finding food in dumpsters and taking shelter wherever she could. Despite many months of hunger, cold, and a serious injury to her jaw, she never lost her sweet disposition and trust in people. Chimera was found by rescuers during a terrible blizzard huddling with another stray in a garbage dumpster. Even though she had been homeless for several months, she responded immediately to human kindness, allowing her rescuers to catch her without a trap and to give her the much-deserved cuddles she had yearned for for so long.

Chimera is about 3 years old, is spayed, negative for FIV and FeLV, and is up to date on rabies and distemper vaccinations. Chimera's unique and charming smile is due to misalignment of her lower jaw caused by a life-threatening injury early in life. To create a more normal bite and enable her to eat without discomfort, two of her canine teeth were recently removed. She is currently healing from the surgery and will be ready for adoption in June. We do not anticipate that any additional major dental work will be required.

Chimera loves to snuggle and is quite sociable with new people and dogs as well as cats. She is extremely appreciative of her care-givers in that very special way that cats who were rescued from the brink of disaster can be. She is very food-motivated due to months of malnutrition, but she is not a picky eater! Chimera will follow you from room to room and jump into your lap for snuggles. She is a good co-sleeper and very much loves the security of sleeping in bed with her care-givers. Because she gets along so well with dogs, she would be a perfect kitty for someone who has dogs and would also like a cat, or in a home with other cats.

If you have room in your heart and home for this very sweet and deserving girl please call or text us at 301-788-1574 or email us at comkitties1@gmail.com.
