CHILLY's Story

**Still somewhat nervous when approached – please approach slowly ** ** Still working on being picked up and held not quite there yet ** Chilly will need ample time to adjust to her new home. Placing her in a quiet sanctuary room with food, water, a bed, toys, a scratching post/board, and litter boxes will help her adapt. The room should include hiding places as well as a few perches where she can feel safe and observe her surroundings. Once Chilly has acclimated to the room, you can begin a slow introduction to other animals and the rest of the house. She will require extra time and support to feel safe and comfortable in new home. She may not settle in right away, but with plenty of patience during this transition she will truly blossom. Chilly would do best with savvy adopters who are happy to give her space and celebrate the small milestones along the way. I’m currently in a loving foster home offsite! Please contact my foster parent, Laura, at ljh1966@hotmail.com to inquire about me or set up a visit! Please allow up to 24 hours for my foster parent to respond. Inquiries are answered in the order received, and the foster parent will let you know your place in line if there are other interested adopters.

A meet-and-greet is required before adoption. Adopters should be available to meet within 48 hours of inquiring; otherwise, preference may be given to the next person in line who can meet sooner.

For everyone’s safety, current pets are not able to meet the foster animal before adoption.

After the meet-and-greet, you will have 24 hours to visit the HSPPR Adoptions Lobby (11:00am–4:30pm) to complete paperwork and finalize the adoption.

Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region's Adoption Policy
You’ll notice each pet will have an info card attached to their kennel with an ID number. Write down this ID number so a matchmaker can give you more information. You will also be asked to complete an adopter survey to help our matchmakers assist you in finding a new pet that’s just the right fit. We limit visitations to two pets per family, per day. This ensures everyone interested in adopting has the opportunity to spend time with their potential new family member. Puppies and kittens 5 months and younger are not able to visit before going home for adoption. Please speak with a staff member for details. Once your visit is complete, you will meet with a customer service representative. We will review any special medical or behavior information and offer tips on how to help you get settled in. Please bring a photo ID and review any pet restrictions that may exist within your lease/rental agreement, HOA bylaws, or city’s ordinances.
