Cherry's Story

Meet Cherry — the tiny patched tabby with BIG opinions and even BIGGER zoomies.

Cherry came into foster care with her four siblings as tiny bottle babies and was bottle-fed around the clock until she was successfully weaned. Since then, she has fully embraced the spoiled indoor kitten lifestyle and firmly believes every human should revolve around her schedule — especially dinner time.

Cherry is basically the self-appointed household announcer. Expect her to begin screaming approximately 30 minutes before meals because, in her mind, starvation is always imminent. She LOVES to talk and always has something important to say.

When she’s not giving speeches, Cherry is busy causing adorable chaos. She loves sprinting through the house at full speed until her little tabby heart is content, diving into throw blankets like a furry submarine, and wrestling with her siblings like she’s training for the kitten Olympics. Her favorite toys are cat springs and catnip mice — and when catnip enters the chat, Cherry completely loses her tiny little mind in the best way possible.

At bedtime, this wild child transforms into a cuddle bug. Cherry loves sleeping in bed with her humans and snuggling under blankets after a long day of zoomies and mischief.

Cherry is growing up in a busy foster home and is extremely well socialized. She lives with a 120 lb Great Pyrenees, a 70 lb Lab, and a 70 lb Golden/Pyrenees mix, along with cats and kittens ranging from tiny bottle babies to seniors. She has also done wonderfully with children ages 3 and older.

Because Cherry is such a playful, social girl, it’s important that she go to a home with another cat buddy to keep up with her wrestling matches, zoomie sessions, and general kitten shenanigans.

If you’re looking for a kitten who is equal parts comedian, athlete, professional snuggler, and tiny screaming goblin, Cherry is your girl.

Cherry is scheduled to be spayed May 29th, but we are now accepting early applications!

Cherry is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but can be transported to the northeast. Her adoption fee is $300.

When Cherry's Adoption Application is received, you will be contacted about transport details.

If interested in meeting Cherry, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $100–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
