Update from foster parent 03/20/26 <br/><br/>"Checkers is a gentle and soft-hearted girl who just needs a little time and patience to show off her sweet personality. She can be a bit scared at first, but when given the time to feel safe, her affectionate and playful sides come out!<br/>Checkers loves one-on-one time and tends to pick her person and bond with them deeply. While she does not prefer to be picked up, she shows her love with soft headbutts and by making lots of biscuits!<br/>Checkers would do great as the only cat in your home, but she can warm up to other cats if she is given lots of space and the introduction is done slowly. She came to enjoy hanging out with her foster brother after a few weeks of adjustment time. She won’t rush into any new cat friendships, but she can make them if you let her go at her own pace!<br/>This sweet girl returned to the shelter through no fault of her own and is ready for a fresh start with someone that will provide her with a safe landing spot and nurture her gentleness.<br/>If you adopt Checkers, she will reward you with loyalty, affection, and her sweet nature.
