These brothers arrived to the A4P family at the beginning of the summer and were surrendered after suffering from diarrhea & stomach problems since they were purchased as kittens. Prior to arriving to us both boys tested positive for several parasites & were successfully treated. Upon arrival we repeated this testing to ensure ongoing parasites were not the cause of continued bowel issues. As their fecal tests came back clean we decided the next step was to pursue an abdominal ultrasound with a specialist. As Charlie was having the most severe symptoms our vet recommended him have the initial ultrasound and if needed brother Moose would be treated for the same condition if needed as they are littermates. The ultrasound showed Charlie has inflammatory bowel disease. After going through another round of food changes, supplement changes, and medications stools for both of the boys has normalized. The fantastic news is that neither brother has a heart murmur!<br/><br/>Currently both boys are on a daily dose of steroid medication (prednisolone), probiotics and are currently eating a prescription gastro diet. Due to the severity of their symptoms it is likely they will require medication lifelong. There is a possibility of decreasing the dose of medication, or doing a trial to discontinue this, however, this is to be decided by your family veterinarian.<br/><br/>Despite everything the boys have been through they sure do have a zest for life. They are very active boys who love love love to play! Both brothers have a blast running on a cat wheel and are obsessed with playing with cat wands. Charlie & Moose are very much a bonded pair (they are littermates who have never been apart from each other) and they need to be adopted together. They sleep curled up to each other every night and are inseparable.<br/><br/>The boys are currently in a foster home with large dogs, other cats & reptiles. They love to play with the other cats and have been seen cuddling up to some of the dogs, however, they seem a little too interested in the family bearded dragon & leopard gecko. Charlie & Moose are great with kids but will seek out any kind of food they can so extra care must be taken that they do not get table scraps or plates are left out with food - they will definitely take advantage of unsupervised food & eating this will flare up their IBD.<br/><br/>Charlie & Moose are up to date on their FVRCP vaccine, have been dewormed, had a dose of preventative flea medication and are microchipped. They will come with a bag of food, some probiotics they are currently taking, and medication. Charlie & Moose will also come with a free trial of pet insurance.
