Charlie (Bonded with Stormy)

Stormy was discovered on a ranch in eastern Washington in the summer of 2025. The Rancher tossed a bag of trash into the dumpster and out popped Stormy! The Cat Distribution System had dispensed a kitty from the dumpster! Yay. <br/>An extra bowl was placed at the community feeding station for the farm cats and Stormy gave up Dumpster Dining and began to dine with the others at the AYCE cat buffet. <br/>Unsure if Stormy was entirely tame, he was trapped and transported to the spay neuter clinic where he was neutered and vaccinated then returned to the ranch for recovery. While recovering he displayed a quiet sweetness and desire for human affection, and thats where the love story began.<br/>Stormy was released from his acclimation containment and allowed to roam the house, and thats where he met Charlie.<br/>Charlie, a spunky little Tuxedo kitty, was picked up from a well-known kitty production ally. Charlie was part of a colony we have worked on for years and was living under an apartment building. The property manager was threatening to board it up and we couldnt let that happen with kitties inside. Armed with a Sawzall and tuna, we went to work. <br/>Once we had Charlie he was all purrs, trills and head bonks. Charlie was also transported to the clinic for a neuter and vaccines and taken home to recover, where he met Stormy.<br/>The two could not be more different but complement each other and are best friends. <br/>What was to come.....<br/>In July, the boys were fully recovered, and it was time for them to go to rescue. They were delivered to a well-known and reputable rescue and were adopted within 2 days as a bonded pair. I was proud that my boys were so loveable and purrrfect () that they were immediately adopted. There were so many to choose from and my boys stood apart. <br/>This turned out to not be such a blessing. The couple who adopted them split up less than 2 weeks later and split up the bonded pair. <br/>I was at the adoption center visiting a long-term resident that was also one of mine, when one partner came in to ask about adopting another because Charlie was needy. I talked with him and explained to him that you do not separate a bonded pair, you keep them together and get a different cat for the other partner and yes, he will be needy without his partner. <br/>Alas, he left without another kitty, thank goodness! Five months later, at 10pm while I was trapping another site for TNR, my phone rang. It was an emergency vet in the Freemont area of Seattle. Someone had found Stormy begging for food and sleeping under a neighbors house. They took him to be scanned and thankfully the adoptive family had never even claimed his chip. Of course we dropped everything to go get him. *Microchips work*<br/>This led me to the question, if Stormy is on the street, where is Charlie? Through the rescue we learned that Charlie had also been lost (thats code for dumped) and they had been watching him on the street in front of their apartment in lower Queen Anne for 5 months. They didnt feed him because they didnt want racoons. Naturally I immediately went to the location. I set a live trap and waited. It took 30 hours from the time we learned he was out to get him home. Five months in the wind, rain, snow, freezing cold, searching for food, hiding from predators, all could have all been avoided for him had they only said something.<br/>Stormy and Charlie were reunited! <br/>If you love cats, These guys are pure sunshine. I have had a lot of cats come and go, but these two are truly special. <br/>Stormy is gentle and quiet and will sit next to you for hours to soak in love. He is playful and will pounce on Charlie and wrestle like kittens. He enjoys chasing a laser and will entertain himself with a battery-operated feather thingy for hours. He is a sweet boy with a gentle nature and a sweet quiet meow. Hobbies include eating, eating, napping, play time, wrestling and sitting with his human for quiet time.<br/>Charlie is like having a playful 3 year old. He trills instead of meows. He trots instead of runs. He does sort of a dolphin dive into your hand to self-pet. Give him a ball and he will entertain himself (and you) for hours. He will sneak up on Stormy and initiate the wrestling match like a bratty little brother. <br/>They are both approximately 2 years old.<br/>Both neutered, up to date on vaccines, FIV/FeLV Neg/Neg and have recently seen the doctor for a wellness check.<br/>Stormy has one chipped tooth that the vet doesnt think needs to be extracted, otherwise they are both healthy and ready to find a new home. Stormy has also been known to door dash. He never goes far and realizes the error of his decision pretty quickly, but a home with a catio for him to feel like he has access to outdoors would be a bonus. <br/>Why dont I keep them? I am actively involved in TNR and do about 15-20 cats a month. For every kitty I keep, it is one I cant help, and there are so many! I travel twice a month to eastern Washington to rescue and traveling with multiple cats is not ideal. I also have a senior citizen kitty that was rescued in eastern Washington. She does not appreciate young kitty antics. <br/>If I didnt have these obstacles, I would absolutely keep them. I want whats best for them and want them to have their own loving home. These two are important to me and I am looking for a home that will be open to updating me and will always let me know if they need help and promise to return them to me first should there ever be a time they cannot care for them. <br/> follow
