Charlie's Story

Meet Charlie (Charlotte)
Female | Estimated 4–5 years old | Spayed
📍 Currently in foster care in Cantley, QC

Charlie, lovingly known as Charlotte, is a gentle and resilient cat who came into our care under heartbreaking circumstances. In the summer of 2024, she was found abandoned outside Wakefield Hospital with her one-week-old kittens on an extremely hot day. While we were able to take the kittens into care immediately, it took nearly two weeks of dedicated effort to trap Charlie. Once safe, she was spayed and placed into foster care.

Charlie spent about a year in her first foster home, where she lived with a dog and did well. Unfortunately, when that dog became aggressive, Charlie needed to be moved. She was then placed into a new foster home — this time with both cats and dogs — where she settled in beautifully and was able to relax and be her silly, charming self again.

Charlie is a shy and sensitive girl who needs a bit of time to adjust to new environments and people. Once she feels safe, her sweet personality truly shines. While she isn’t a constant lap cat, she enjoys affection on her own terms and will come to you for pets and scratches. She likes to sleep on the bed, confidently walks around dogs, and will even “chat” from time to time.

Charlie does best in a calm home. She previously lived with a foster who had a young baby and was curious but respectful; however, due to her limited experience with children, we feel she would be happiest in a home without young children or with very calm, gentle kids.

She enjoys living with other cats and dogs and appreciates having vertical space. In her current foster home in Cantley, she loves lounging on perches and watching the wildlife outside — especially her foster’s chickens. Treats are the fastest way to her heart (she even knows the word “treat”!) and are a great way to build trust.

When Charlie was rescued, she was estimated to be 2–3 years old, making her approximately 4–5 years old now. She has so much life, love, and quiet companionship left to give to the right home.

Medical Information:
Charlie is spayed, fully vaccinated, and dewormed. She is not currently microchipped, as vet visits are stressful for her; however, microchipping can be arranged prior to adoption if desired.

To set up an appointment to meet sweet Charlie, please email tnr.lapeche@gmail.com.

--

Voici Charlie (Charlotte)

At TNR La Pêche, we have a thorough adoption process to ensure that each cat finds a loving and responsible home that meets their needs. Adoption Process: 1. Application Submission – Potential adopters must complete an adoption application, providing details about their home, lifestyle, and experience with pets. 2. Application Review – Our team carefully reviews each application to ensure a good match between the adopter and the cat. 3. Interview & Discussion – We may contact applicants for a follow-up discussion to clarify details and ensure they understand our adoption policies. 4. Home Environment Consideration – We require that all adopted cats live indoors only to ensure their safety and well-being. 5. Meet & Greet – If the application is approved, adopters have the opportunity to meet the cat and ask any questions before finalizing the adoption. 6. Adoption Agreement & Fee – Approved adopters sign an adoption contract agreeing to provide proper care, and they pay an adoption fee that helps cover veterinary expenses. 7. Transition Support – We provide guidance on introducing the cat to their new home and remain available for post-adoption support. Our goal is to ensure the best possible match for both the cat and the adopter, leading to a successful and lifelong adoption.
