Charles's Story

Meet Charles — a big 'ol tomcat with an even bigger personality!

Charles is about three years old and wandered onto a farm site looking a little rough around the edges. At first he kept his distance, but it didn't take long for him to show everyone that underneath that tough-guy exterior, he's actually a friendly, charming dude. With a bit of convincing (and probably a few snacks), he was corralled and brought in to be neutered — and now he's ready for a whole new chapter.

Charles is not a fan of kennel life. He prefers the freedom and comfort of a real home where he can still enjoy being a tomcat but with all the perks: warmth, safety, good food, and people who care about him. He'd make a great shop cat, too — the kind who supervises your projects and chats with you while you work.

He does have FIV (see details below), so he'll need to be the only cat. But if you have room in your heart and home for a big, appreciative boy who's ready to thrive, Charles will repay you with loyalty, gratitude... and plenty of stories. He's a talker, and he'll definitely keep you entertained throughout the day.

Come meet Charles — he's ready to show you just how wonderful a rescued tomcat can be.

Charles is currently at PetSmart in Hutchinson. Cats with FIV can live long, happy, healthy lives with good care.

Key points:
- It's similar to HIV in humans but only affects cats — it cannot spread to people or other animals.
- Its mainly transmitted through deep bite wounds, which is why FIV cats should live as the only cat or with other FIV positive cats.
- FIV cats can enjoy normal lives: playing, snuggling, exploring, and being wonderful companions.
- FIV cats are absolutely adoptable — they just need the right home and a little extra understanding.
