Charcoal's Story
Adoption fee sponsored by: Anonymous

Hi there, I'm Charcoal! I like to take my time checking out new places before I decide everything is up to my very high standards, so don't be surprised if I need a little time to get my bearings. Once I settle in, you'll discover I have the heart of a teddy bear and plenty of love to share. One thing you should know about me right away? I am a serious foodie! If there's a meal, snack, or treat involved, you can count me in. I also have cerebellar hypoplasia, which means I can be a little wobbly on my feet. It's simply something I was born with, it isn't painful, and it won't get worse over time. I may do things a little differently, but I still enjoy exploring, relaxing, and living life to the fullest. If your favorite hobby is trying new recipes, enjoying a good meal, or simply sharing a snack with a furry best friend nearby, I think we'd make the perfect pair. All I need is a little patience, a full food bowl, and someone ready to love me for the sweet guy I am.

Charcoal has tested positive for Feline Leukemia and FIV. FeLV is not a type of cancer. Both FIV and FeLV are viruses that cause a weaker immune system. While cats with FIV can often be asymptomatic during their lifetime, cats with FeLV typically have a shortened lifespan. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. Charcoal can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.

For more information on FIV and FeLV, follow these links:

FIV: https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/fiv-cats-faqs-feline-immunodeficiency-virus

FeLV: https://catfriendly.com/feline-diseases/felv/
