Chai's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Chai – A Gentle Soul with Gorgeous Blue Eyes

Chai’s journey began as a five-month-old street kitty, discovered in a local cat colony by a kind-hearted rescuer who knew he deserved more. Thanks to SVPP, Chai was welcomed into the care of an experienced foster who recognized that this calm, gentle boy needed extra help learning to trust.

Over time, Chai has blossomed. He now seeks out his foster mom for regular petting sessions and enjoys quiet companionship. He's not treat or food motivated, but people and petting motivated. And while he’s not a lap cat, he’ll happily sit beside you on the sofa and lean in for gentle affection. He is doing very well—but his environment still presents challenges for him.

Chai currently lives with six other cats, and the constant activity causes him anxiety. He would thrive in a calm, quiet home with just one/two other friendly cat(s) or a gentle dog—someone to be his buddy without overwhelming him. He’s not afraid of new people, but loud noises (especially TV sounds) send him running. That’s why a peaceful household with patient humans is essential for his happiness.

Chai is looking for someone who understands that his needs. He doesn’t need flashy toys or busy rooms—just a soft spot to land, a kind hand to pet him, and a furry friend to share his days.

Real talk: Chai has a prescription for anti-anxiety medication that we'd like the adopter to agree to administering because he is known to urinate inappropriately when stressed. It's simply a crushed flavored tablet in wet food once a day, but his current environment makes it impossible to administer the medication without the other cats pouncing on it instead.

Reach out if you think you can be the hero for our boy Chai!
