Cetan's Story

Cetan is a special kind of cat, feral becoming friendly! He looooves other cats, so he needs to have other cats in the home. The more cats the better.

When Cetan moves to a new home, he will probably regress at first. However, once he sees another cat, he will come out of hiding. Once he sees that his new people have routines and they have cat food and pet other cats, he will quickly get back to himself. He loves to get petted (with bare hands) so much that he runs in front of his foster parents and throws himself down on the floor in front of the person, so that they will pet him. He does act like he might bite sometimes, but he hasn't. If he does that, we walk away. If you don't pet him enough, he will try to grab your hand or your leg if you are walking away.

His foster parents can pick him up. He squirms, so you have to be firm, but you can lift him up onto a couch or bed, so a cat carrier should be possible. His foster mom actually trims his nails now, which he really needs, as he has extra toes and nails that grow between them! He is very good for nail trimming!

Cetan wants to play with other cats, wrestle with them, and play chase. He talks to them, and to people. He also now hops onto the bed when there are other cats and people in bed, and might even lean on a person and stay a while. No laps yet, but he has jumped up onto the couch to sit near a person, and he can be petted there.

Below is Cetan's original description, just so you have an idea of how far he has come since January 2025! <historical info> Trapped in Feb. 2025, he had serious dental problems. It took a couple of months to have his dental surgery & recover, so after all of that, his rescuers decided to keep him indoors and socialize him. Whiskers accepted him into their adoption program. He has come a long way! He used to hide from people & hiss at them. He now purrs! He loves to get petted, as long as either people wear heavy gloves OR he can't see their bare hand petting his back. He is very playful! He just recently (Nov 2025) started to lean on people if they sit on the floor. It's all very exciting! He still needs more work, though. His fosters are working to be able to pick him up. He comes to greet people at the door to his room. As you can see in the photos, he is in a room with a gate, so he hears and sees most of what goes on in the house. He talks to the other cats in the home -- he has a huge vocabulary! With the right person, who knows how to help this guy continue to come out of his shell, he could be a great pet. He seemed 100% feral 9 months ago -- and despite that, he has come to (mostly) trust his foster people and their pet sitter. His foster parents will be very particular about the home he goes to. We just want the best for this guy! Cetan is also cool-looking and he is polydactyl.

Approx.
