UPDATE: We have wonderful news! Somerset Regional Animal Shelter (srasnj.org) opened their hearts and was able to take several cats from West Orange, including Cersei. If you are interested in seeing and possibly adopting Cersei, please give them a call – 908-725-0308

HISTORY: Let us introduce you to Cersei. Just like her namesake Cersei wants her own way. Cersei was found as a stray. A very nice lady saw Cersei hanging out near her apartment, picked her up and brought her inside. Then she called animal control just in case someone was missing their cat, and Cersei spent the night with the lady in her apartment. All was well.

The nice lady couldn't keep this beautiful cat, and in the morning animal control arrived. The officer bent down and petted Cersei, and thought 'another lost friendly cat'; but when she went to pick Cersei up Cersei bolted. She must have liked this new place that she spent the night in and had no intention on leaving. Eventually after a game of seek and find Cersei was corralled and brought to the animal shelter. That's when the real fun began. Cersei hates it there and does that hissey, swipe-at-you thing. We are so hoping she'll settle in and get back to being that nice kitty animal control was petting in that apartment.

I the meantime, Cersei has been to the vet who estimated she's between 1 & 2 years old. The exam showed she was in good health. Her FL/FIV tests were negative and there were no parasites. She was given her Rabies and Distemper Vaccinations, and was spayed. Then she was returned to the shelter - which she hates. We can understand why the shelter frightens her. All the strange sights and sounds. She was the same at the vet's office, but when you think about it both places are very similar - all those shiny cages.... all those strange noises.... all those strange people. We're hoping when Cersei's in a home again all those fears will vanish and she'll be able to settle in comfortably and relax with her people.
