Update 8/9/26: Celine is finally starting to turn a corner! This stunning long-haired beauty of a cat is enjoying being brushed, no longer flinches every time a hand comes near to pet her, enjoys playing with wand toys, has been wandering out of her cage on occasion, and finally has a softening of her eyes that suggest she may even look forward to some human company. It is really hard to show a kitty like this to adopters unfortunately. Someone out there is going to have to have faith that they can win her over. Maybe you want to give it a try???<br/><br/>------------<br/><br/>Update 7/29/26: The kind and patient SPIN volunteers are winning Celine (and Claire) over! I posted a new video that to the average person may seem a bit boring...but what you are looking at are the beginnings of a frightened cat starting to trust humans! This is Celine playing and accepting, maybe even wanting(!), pets. The right adopter can and will get Celine to blossom like the beautiful flower she is. For the time being, we have separated Claire and Celine again and think they are doing a lot better apart. <br/><br/>------------<br/><br/>Update 7/7/26: The SPIN volunteers are still working with Celine and Claire to get them to warm up to humans. Celine is very distrustful of people. She is food-motivated and does like to play with a specific green ribbon wand toy. Claire is a bit more accepting of touch and pets, but is very shy. I expect that an adopter is going to have to be very patient to break through to these kitties. Claire and Celine are back together, and we do expect that they should be adopted as a pair. They may be perfect for someone who wants household cats, but does not want to put a lot of energy into them outside feeding them and cleaning their litter box. Alternatively, they would make a good pair for someone who wants to test their "cat whisperer" skills and bring them out of their self-protective shells.<br/><br/>------------<br/><br/>Celine is an elegant and gorgeous brown and white cat who arrived at the SPIN home with her housemate Claire. Celine has not adjusted to life at SPIN yet, and is still quite mistrustful of us humans and stressed. The SPIN volunteers are particularly committed to getting the shy ones to come out of their shells, and are using their bag of kitty tricks (and quite a few tasty food treats!) to win Celine over.<br/><br/>Are you the type of person - patient, kind, consistent - who likes the idea of being a cat's special someone? The one who manages to crack open a cat's tightly woven protective cocoon and release the vibrant, flourishing, and spirited kitty that has been too scared to reveal herself? We believe that Celine is bonded with Claire and that they probably should go home together. However, we have noticed some friction between the two and are separating them for the time being to see if they adjust better separately.
