CASEY's Story
CASEY has led quite the life as a stray city cat and may well have used a couple of his nine lives to survive. CASEY is blind in his left eye and may have limited sight in his right eye. He may also have some sensitivity to bright lights and direct sunshine. But in spite of his limitations, CASEY somehow found his way to the home of an F2F volunteer, who has fed him and worked with him until he was trusting enough to allow her to bring him to the shelter.

She reports that "CASEY is a pretty mellow boy who doesn't need a lot of attention but does like gentle pets and will lay next to you, once he trusts you. Given his limited eyesight, it is important that you always speak to him and let him see your hand before you touch him. If he is startled, he may grab your hand or may run away and hide, but he is not aggressive. He is just protecting himself. CASEY is not a fan of being picked up. But CASEY is happy being near you and will follow you around and lay near you to watch the world go by. He enjoys chatting with you as you go about your day."

CASEY may be best in a quiet home as an only pet. He isn't all that impressed with most cats and we do not know how he'd be with dogs or kids. CASEY doesn't mind the other cats but will stand his ground. However, that is usually a growl and swat as he is moving away. Given his sight limitations, in a noisy environment he might not be able to tell what is a threat and what is just noise. So, he may have a problem adjusting to the sudden noise and chaos of other pets and small children running around. He might be ok with a child over 12 who understands that although CASEY is fairly young, his life so far as been difficult. His limits might make it difficult for him to play, but he is a wonderful listener and perhaps, with time, a cuddle buddy.

CASEY is now open to being petted and will now come to people for attention. CASEY just needs someone who is willing to give him time and space to feel safe, and maybe for the first time in his life he will believe he is loved and is home!

CASEY is FIV+ but can live a long and happy life.
For great information on FIV+ cats please go to: https://iheartcats.com/5-reasons-to-consider-adopting-an-FIV+-cat

DOB 10/2023 Entered Shelter- 10/2025

If you would like to adopt CASEY, please visit the shelter during ADOPTION HOURS, Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays, 10:00am to 1:00pm, or call 231-773-3030 for an appointment.
