Carmella's Story
Carmella needs new roots!

Like a seed blowing in the wind looking for a soft place to land, Carmella (meaning garden) was living a life on the streets. Little is known about this time. What we do know is that we are here to nurture her until she can find a place to feel secure and flourish!

ABOUT CARMELLA
- At shelter
- Carmella is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans, so she is taking a little time to adjust to her new environment in the shelter.
- Carmella is currently enrolled in EHSs socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people.
- She is still quite shy and scared, but very gentle. She is now pretty receptive to pets with a back-scratcher when shes feeling safe in her cubby.
- Carmella is a curious cat! She will chat with other cats when they come by her kennel. Shes been coming out of her safe space more often, even when people are around. When it gets too much or people get a little too close, shell run away to safety.
- Shes also very food motivated and wont let people being nearby stop her from getting to her dish.
- Carmella has been spayed, and is microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and up to date on core vaccinations.

CARMELLAS IDEAL HOME
- A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.
- While Carmella appears to have some interest in the other cats at the shelter, we are uncertain at this point if she gets along with them. Her exposure to dogs is unknown.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Carmella settle into her new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Carmella with a successful transition to her forever home.

To plant a garden is to dream of tomorrow.— Audrey Hepburn.
