Carl's Story
Carl – The Shy Hunk With a Heart of Gold

Quick Facts:
Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Vaccinations: Up to date
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
FeLV/FIV: Negative
Microchipped: Yes
House Trained: Yes
Good With: Cats; calm, gentle people; quieter homes

Carl’s Story
Carl is a hunk. A shy hunk. The kind of guy every woman dreams of — sweet, respectful, charming without trying, and deeply appreciative of snacks. Especially kitty treats. He came into rescue with a gentle soul and an easygoing personality, and he has only leaned more fully into that softness as he’s settled into foster care.

Carl loves chin scratches and will never turn down a quiet moment of affection. At first, he can be cautious with new people or fast movements, but once he knows he’s safe, he becomes a warm, steady companion. Shake a treat jar and watch him shimmy his little booty right over — he absolutely lives for snack time.

He’s wonderfully laid-back with other cats and currently lives in harmony with two very different personalities: a sweet female and Gary, a famously persnickety older gentleman. Carl is the Oscar of this odd couple — cool, collected, unbothered, and not about to let anyone’s spice level ruffle his fur. He keeps a tidy kennel, enjoys the company of other cats, and handles new situations with quiet grace.

Carl is the kind of partner who doesn’t rush love but gives it fully once he trusts you. For the right adopter, he will be the most loyal, gentle, treat-motivated best friend. Truly, a hunk… hunk… hunk.

If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know
I warm up slowly, but once I know you, I’m a sweetheart who loves chin scratches, quiet company, and treats. I like other cats, I keep things tidy, and I’m never pushy. If you’re looking for a calm, gentle companion with a soft heart, I’d love to be your guy.

Important Adoption Information and Next Steps:

All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are:
-Spayed or neutered
-Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations
-Microchipped prior to adoption
-Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate).
-Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.
-We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.
-Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.

To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org
and complete our adoption application.

After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.

For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.

Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you do not hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
