Meet Cardboard! He came to us from the hustle and bustle of New York City where he had been found as an stray in - you guessed it - a cardboard box.
Cardboard is has been with us for over a year as he’s looking for a home that can appreciate his quirks.
He’s our resident sourpatch kid: sweet one moment, sour the next. While he LOVES to rub on you, weave between your legs, and make biscuits, he often finds direct petting overstimulating. When he gets overstimulated, he gets mouthy. He has never broken skin, but it can hurt. We have seen this improve with time, enrichment, and proper medication.
Despite his orangeness, he is quite clever! As mentioned, he loves enrichment toys and puzzles. Cardboard also loves some cardio - he has top notch zoomies and has been known to take out light furniture in his path! You know the saying “a tired dog is a good dog”? Same goes for Cardboard!
Our favorite thing about Cardboard is his comical demeanor and his sweet side. Cardboard’s ideal home would be able to respect his independence and let him initiate, while also providing mental and physical stimulation.
Other Cats: with proper introductions by an experienced multi-cat owner, he would be okay sharing his space with the right cat friend
Dogs: may be okay, but dog should be cat-savvy and not interested in playing/chasing
Kids: no children
Cardboard is not suited for small apartments/studios.
Cardboard did test positive for FIV.
It is not contagious to humans and is only contagious to other cats through deep bite wounds, typically seen in unneutered male cats fighting over mates. Cardboard has been neutered for over a year and has existed with FIV- cats mostly peacefully, but would likely do best as an only cat regardless. FIV+ cats live long, happy, healthy lives!
Cardboard is also on daily Prozac. We would recommend continuing this medication for an extended period of time, if not lifelong. This medication costs less than $10/month and he takes it willingly in his food.
DOB: ~2019
All Spicy Cats are spayed/neutered and UTD on vaccines prior to adoption.
