Canary's Story
“Canary, Nary Quite Contrary!”
That’s what we sing to this little guy—and honestly, it fits him perfectly!
Canary came to us with a classification of Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). After spending time observing him and watching the way he moves, we suspect his condition may actually be the result of some kind of previous head trauma. Whatever the cause, Canary has a precious little head tilt and an adorable bobble when he gets moving, and neither one slows this boy down!
This little guy has an enormous zest for life and absolutely loves to play. But what Canary really loves? His humans. It doesn’t matter who you are—Canary wants to cuddle you. If you aren’t petting him, he will be sure to let you know about it! He thrives on affection and will happily soak up every bit of attention you’re willing to give.
Canary does well with other cats when given a slow introduction. His foster family affectionately calls him “10 Second Tom,” after 50 First Dates, because sometimes he forgets that the other cats are there and is completely surprised when he “meets” them again.
He isn’t mean or aggressive toward his feline friends... He just gives them a little growl to let them know he is very, very serious (and we say that with the utmost sincerity... and just a tiny bit of sarcasm). Once his important announcement is over, Canary carries on with his day and goes right back to making new friends.
He currently lives with eight foster siblings and does just fine, but he would also be perfectly happy with one or two feline friends—or even as solo guy. At the end of the day, Canary is really in it for the humans.
This sweet little guy is truly one of a kind. He’s quirky, affectionate, playful, and completely lovable—and we think his forever family is going to adore every wonderfully contrary thing about him.
