Cammy & Cleetus Bear ADOPTED:)'s Story
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Apply to adopt with our online cat application: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form4/index.html

Please go to our web-site to learn more about Waverly Pet Rescue: www.waverlypetrescue.com

Cleetus Bear and Cammy were strays in Denver, Iowa. A kind lady rescued them off the streets when they were 3 months old back in June 2025 and then they went to a Waverly Pet Rescue foster home. They are now both up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and spayed/neutered.

Cleetus Bear and Cammy were born 3/17/25 so are now a year old as March 2026. They came to us feral and the foster mom had experience taming up feral kittens so agreed to take them in. They were slow to come around at first, then blossomed into loving and devoted little munchkins. They are now extremely bonded to their mom, and she to them. She has now decided to adopt them and give them a forever home.

"We've been fostering both of them for about 9 months. It took months to get him to trust me enough to seek out attention or even let me hold him. He's such a shy little guy but once he warmed up, I think he chose me as his person! I've loved having him and I think he knew he was home the whole time.. She has been the trickiest little girl; she warmed up to my adult cats immediately and chose Ozzy (my adult male) as her emotional support cat. She is still taking her time warming up to us but with time and her growing up I can't wait to see her personality blossom. She fits right in and is even our first calico/tortie! She is so curious about everything. Although she's still getting used to people, she definitely chose this family from the start."

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
