Calzone's Story

Meet Calzone. This former feral boys journey has been long but well worth the wait. He was trapped and planned to be a typical TNR, but when we found out he was FIV+ we wanted to give it a try to see if this feral boy had love to give.

After months of trial and error and two foster homes, we were close to giving up and returning him, but then his foster heard meows at the door, and noticed he would play with the foster's own cats through the door. That's where we discovered his kyrptonite: foster siblings! Cal has been an amazing foster brother to over 7 cats! He loves to play and chase them around when they're alone, and loves to share churu treats together. Calzone still needs time to adjust, and on occasion will swat and hiss if he feels cornered or overwhelmed, but he has learned a gentle tap is enough and isn't aggressive unless pushed. He will learn to trust you with time, patience, and a bucket full of churus. Calzone needs to be adopted into a home with another cat. There's a very good, sweet boy underneath that mean lil mug!

Calzone is about 5 years old, neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested FIV positive and FeLV negative.

Oakland TNR Coalition's Adoption Policy
Adopting a cat is a big responsibility and commitment, but it's also one of the biggest acts you can ever do for an animal in need. Each cat in our care has its own story and background. All are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, flea-treated, dewormed, microchipped, and FIV/FeLV negative (unless stated otherwise). Because of the time, care, and vetting put into each cat, our adoption fee is $110 for one cat over one year old or $200 for two, and $140 for one cat under one year old or $260 for two. Filling out this application does not guarantee that you will be approved for adoption. Due to the influx of applications, we may not be able to reply to all applicants. By filling out this application you agree that all information on this form is correct and to our adoption process which includes a home tour, a vet reference (personal reference if you do not have a vet), and landlord approval if you are a renter.
