Bye, Bye, Birdie's Story
Birdie- this exceptional former mama cat is a brilliant young singer. She has quite a lovely range of songs and trills, and she's a huge fan of humans. Birdie wants to be where you are, and helping you with what you're doing at all times, and she will greet you at the door with a “prrt” every time. This pretty girl has so much love to give.

WHY SHE NEEDS A SINGLE-CAT HOME NOW: Her foster has had Birdie since her kittens were 1 week old. Lately she's started chewing her fur off, leaving bald patches. Her foster first thought she was lonely in the foster room, so brought her upstairs with people and resident cats. She did well with people, but has begun bullying one of the resident cats with charging and full-on fights. She leaves the other two cats alone, so it may be a specific personality clash, or stress, or something medical.

She's currently in a calming collar and on allergy medicine, but we need to figure out what she actually needs. She doesn't like to be pet at her bald spots, but will be gentle with how she tells you.

WHAT WE'RE ASKING FOR:

1. NO OTHER CATS in the home — just Birdie, so we can rule out cat-to-cat stress and assess her behavior and skin without interference.

2. PATIENCE AND OBSERVATION while we work with our vet to determine if this is medical, stress, or behavioral.

3. LOVE AND TV TIME — she thrives on human company and wants to be your little helper.

IF YOU CAN FOSTER, WE'LL PROVIDE: All supplies, food, litter, calming collar, and cover all vet and medical costs through our vet of record, Roxbury Animal Hospital. You just provide the quiet room and love.

Birdie is friendly, affectionate, and so deserving of a calm space to heal. She's been great with the teenagers in her foster home, seeking out attention from humans. She's not “bad,” she's stressed and needs answers. In rescue we know we cannot save them all, but with the right foster we can give Birdie the chance she needs.

If you currently have no cats and can open your heart and door to Birdie for a bit or foster-to-adopt, please message us.

You can see more pictures and videos of our fosters on our facebook page: Sophia L'Orange Kitten Rescue

or on her foster's public facebook page: Cheney Fosters

All of our adoptable animals are cared for and assessed in foster homes (we do not have a shelter), up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and tested for FeLV/FIV, before they are adopted. They have had de-worming medication as a standard of care and Flea/Tick/Ear Mite preventive treatment. Medical records will be released with the adopted pet.
