Bushwick Bill's Story

Are you looking for your own personal greeter? Someone who gets so excited when you walk through the door that he has to sprint to his scratcher and let it all out? Bushwick Bill, lovingly known as Bushy Boy, is ready and waiting.

His photos may look serious. Stoic. Brooding, even. Please do not be fooled. This boy is a certified goofball. Bushy Boy is basically a golden retriever in a cat’s body. He’s chatty, especially around mealtime, and will happily narrate his excitement when snacks are involved. When he’s feeling loved up, he shakes his tail in happiness like he can’t quite contain it.

He’s a total shadow cat, so you’ll want to watch your step. If you’re moving, he’s moving. If you sit, he’s there. If you’re in bed, he’ll snuggle up against you or drape himself across your legs like he belongs there. Because he does.

Bushwick Bill was rescued from the streets of Van Nuys with a leg injury that thankfully healed with rest and good pain meds. During that recovery time, he showed us how much he loves other cats and how deeply he wants connection. One of his foster cat friends helped teach him boundaries, and he’s now very good at reading body language and being respectful of his elders.

While his confidence has grown tremendously, he still appreciates a home that keeps things predictable. He’s easily entertained and does well with routine. He loves to play, though he’s starting to grow out of the wild kitten phase and settling into a more balanced, young adult energy.

He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Being picked up isn’t his favorite thing, but once he feels safe, he happily leans into pets and affection. He’s come a long way and now loves his people just as much as he loves his cat friends.

Bushy Boy would thrive in a patient home with another friendly cat who’s ready for a little brother presence. He truly wants to be part of everything and will make sure you never feel alone.

If Bushwick Bill sounds like your kind of companion, fill out an application at santedor.org or reach out with any questions. He truly will fill your home with joy and life will be more full because of him.
