Brookie a playful cookie! 's Story

Hello there, friend- Thanks for stopping by!

At Hobbes Haven our mission is to help shape & support a better life for feral & stray cat colonies in our varying communities of the Columbia River Gorge Oregon.

We want to introduce you to Brookie (don't forget her bonded sister Brookie)!

Brookie got her name from the delicious dessert- she is a combination of a soft and gooey brownie mixed with a slightly crispy but still very sweet cookie :)
Brookie may be a little shy at the beginning, but when she feels she can trust the space and person, she opens up to be one of the most playful and energetic kittens! She loves spending time and energy on her cat wheel and is often exercising alonside her sister Marble. She is a gorgeous tortie who reminds you that cats take patience and time to earn their trust, but once you do you will have a tender and loyal girl by your side. When is is not playing, she will be very calmly and relaxed looking down at the kitten room chaos as she chills on her cat tower or cat cubby.

Brookie was rescued with her sister Marble and 12 other kittens at a site of 40+ feral cats back in October and November 2025. They come from a feral cat colony in Parkdale Oregon, near the base of Mt. Hood.

Brookie was lucky to have been rescued along side one of her sisters, Marble, Did you know that 70-80% of feral kittens don't survive past their 1st year due to the incredibly harsh conditions that feral and stray cats face day to day.

Feral and stray cats don't just happen, they are DIRECLTY AND ONLY caused by human irresponsibility- someone who owns a cat that doesn't want to sterilize it and lets it go outdoors, the person who abandons their cat in a field or orchard when its sick or they get tired of it, the person who leaves their cat behind when they move out of out, and so on.
Due to them being rescued together and tamed for domestication alongside one another, they have endured growth together that has bonded them. Our goal is for Brookie to be adopted with her bonded pair and sister Marble.

We hope to find families that will keep in touch with Hobbes Haven and update us with pictures and videos of our rescued angels! Remember that many times we have been fostering these kittens for many months, and that is another reason you know Hobbes Haven is a good hearted organization to support, because our goal is to find the RIGHT homes NOT a home RIGHT NOW.
Here at Hobbes Haven we focus on supporting the health and well being of feral and stray cat colonies via T-N-R-M; during out initial visits to a site, if we encounter kittens or cats young enough or friendly enough to domesticate, we rescue them from those sites and work with them directly to get them healthy and ready for a second chance at a life as a part of a family and a home. Our rescued cats and kittens are unique being that they were born as feral cats, meaning the time it took to domesticate them may have been more involved than others. When you support Hobbes Haven via your adoption and donations, you are helping a bigger ripple effect, because you are supporting existing feral cat colonies stop their cycle of suffering by getting all cats sterilized and vaccinated, but also offering a very rare second chance to a few lucky ones.

At Hobbes Haven, your adoption fee helps us cover this kitten's sterilization, rabies vaccination and testing for FeLV at our collaborating veterinary clinics here in the Columbia River Gorge, this is a transparent one to one transaction, absolutely no revenue is made from this.

Up to the point of adoption, Hobbes Haven has covered FVRCP vaccines (most of the time 3 our of 3 of the first kitten series), deworming, antifungal bath, veterinary treatment for ailments as kittens, food, cat supplies, etc- this is why your donations matter and help make a difference!
