Brooke's Story

Calling all FeLV+ cat lovers! Are you looking for the perfect little sweetheart of a cat?

Introducing Brooke! Brooke came to TCR after she was found as a stray. Brooke is a super sweet girlie who perpetually looks a bit surprised and startled - those big, wide dinner plate eyeballs are just part of her very endearing aesthetic. Clocking in at less than 7lbs, Brooke may be a small cat, but there is a lot of love and endless biscuit-making power in those dainty paws.

Brooke's favorite things are snuggling in laps, treats and snacks, and flopping over to get hard at work in the biscuit factory. She is currently being fostered with another FeLV+ cat, Skye, and the two get along like gangbusters. Brooke and Skye both are a bit shy at first, but with a little love and patience, they are sure to come out of their shells in no time.

Brooke and Skye could be adopted together, as solo kitties, or to homes with other FeLV+ cats. We think that either one of them would do fine with older, respectful kiddos who can be patient at first. Brooke would thrive best with an adopter willing to start her off in one small room in their home, until she is comfortable and ready for more space.

Brooke is estimated to be a little over a year old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV-/FeLV+ (progressive). This chronic illness doesn't currently affect Brooke's daily life much; however, the FeLV virus may eventually affect her health and lifespan, as FeLV impairs the cat's immune system. Becoming established with a vet supportive of treating an FeLV+ cat, controlling secondary infections, and treating other illnesses as they arise is essential to maintaining an FeLV+ kitty.

Are you looking to adopt an adorable perma-kitten? (Or two?) Consider Brooke, or Brooke and Skye together!

Trash Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
Typically the potential adopter reaches out either with or without a specific cat in mind. We will usually ask questions about the type of cat the adopter is interested in (any preferences as far as gender, color, personality, etc.), as well as the sort of home the cat would be going to (any kids, other pets, etc.). If we have a cat or kitten who would be a good fit, the adopter can fill out our application for that animal. If not, the person can still fill out the app, and we will keep them if mind if we end up with a cat who we think would be a good fit. Once the app is reviewed/approved (including checking vet and landlord references), we would chat any further with the adopter if needed, and then schedule a meet and greet with them with the cat or kitten. If the animal and the adopter hit it off, the adopter would then fill out our adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee, and take the cat or kitten home!
