Brie (bonded with Merlot)'s Story

***Brie and Merlot escaped from a barn fire, a place they had called home since they were kittens. Brie relies on Merlot’s outgoing bravery to feel secure, and the girls must continue their stories together in their new home.

Brie & Merlot are from a colony in Eastern Ontario that unfortunately had a fire where they were living. They have been fostered together since then.

Brie is a brilliantly-coloured calico, just over a year old, who is slowly coming into her own. Her nature is shy and reserved, and interacting with people remains a cautious work in progress. However, she enjoys exploring new places in her foster home and is actually very adventurous when left to her own devices. She loves having her sister, Merlot, with her on her explorations, and the girls have fun poking about and finding new niches.

Brie will tolerate some pets, but only for a minute before she gets a bit scared and runs to her sister. It may be slow going for this timid little cat, but with patience and treats, she will get over her fears in time. Brie is a quiet kitty and has not found her purr yet; however, she does seem to be trying, with cute little burpy noises that hopefully will transform into full purrs when she is settled.

One activity Brie loves other than exploring is playing with her toys. Her favourites are wand toy and catnip toys, and she can amuse herself with them for hours. She also has a great appetite, relishes every meal and looks forward to her Churu treats!

The girls have seen the family cat and were very interested in her. However, they did not have further interaction with other cats since coming to the foster home, but may do well with other friendlies.

Brie & Merlot are beautiful cats who need a calm, patient and loving home where they can enjoy their days relaxing, exploring, looking out the window at the birds, and of course, getting a lot of love and treats from their forever family. They are lucky cats who has used up one life each when they escaped the flames, and would really love to stay safe and intact for the rest of their other lives.

Would you like to make them a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
