Meet Bramble!<br/><br/>Bramble is a 3-4 year old, 8-pound fluffy Persian cat. He loves naps and making biscuits on the chest of just about anybody. He's even greeted strangers and sat on their laps!<br/><br/>Bramble has been fully vetted, including FELV/FIV testing and vaccines. (Records transferred from vet with adoption) Most of his body was shaved due to prior neglect and severe matting, but his glorious floof will grow back. He doesn't love brushing, I don't believe he is familiar with it, but will tolerate it for a bit. I usually give him a few brushes while he is resting or sleeping daily. He has had no problem with nail trimming or with cleaning his typically runny Persian breed eyes. He has perfect litter box manners.<br/><br/>Bramble has an unknown history, and is slow to trust and warm up. But the important part is that he does warm up once he understands that you are safe. It took me about a week to be able to pet him, and after about 3 weeks he started running up to me and excitedly jumping onto my chest to make biscuits and nap. Until that point he would hiss at me often. Importantly, he never has swatted or tried to bite anyone. He just likes to hiss to express his fear and uncertainty. He is fully able to be picked up, handled, kissed, etc. He was with another short term foster mom prior to me being able to take him and she had the same successful experience. She absolutely loved him and has been over twice to visit him.<br/><br/>We are looking for a quiet and patient home, with no kids due to the hissing and uncertainty he has. A home with a calm dog would be okay, and/or possibly a young friendly cat or kitten would be okay. He would also be fine as a single pet, especially if owner works from home. He has shown continued interest in playing with our 15 pound dog and ignores our own cats except for our "alpha cat" that he has taken a strong disliking to. For that reason we are suggesting no cat, or a young submissive cat, or perhaps acquiring a second cat later, after Bramble is fully adjusted. <br/><br/>Because Bramble has had a rough history, being found debilitatingly matted/flea infested/malnourished, we are committed to patiently finding him the perfect forever home. Please do not apply until you have researched the care a Persian cat requires and feel good committing to it. They are not "hands off cats." (Though there are plenty of those available!) Persian cats require coat grooming, eye care and have the flat faces that can make breathing difficult. They do not do well in high temperatures and can never be outside. We are specifically looking for someone who is desiring to give him the life he deserves, the patience he needs, and the love he craves.
