Bombay's Story

Meow my name is Bombay and as you can see, I am a stunning, sleek, long and lean, dilute calico. I’m about 1.5 yrs old and I'm now ready for my forever home.

I had a pretty rough start in life and didn’t receive human love, so am a bit suspicious but that has been resolved now and I'm affectionate and loving, I seek your hand to rub my head. I have the unique ability to teach you humility, patience…tons and um tons of patience, how kindness is always best and what boundaries are. I will test you daily and keep you on your toes. All that being said…I’m trying, I’m really, really trying so hard to learn to trust and accept that humans won’t hurt me. If you can please help me, I will be forever grateful and you will have won the jackpot because I’M WORTH IT!

And now a few words from the human…

Bombay has been in a foster home since 12/29 and has made amazing progress! She is slowly lowering her defenses and her sweet personality is beginning to shine bright! While her first instinct is to hiss or growl, she will soften upon hearing the magic word “treat”. Nothing beats a good Delectable or Churu and she will gently lick it off your fingers and hand. Bombay enjoys being brushed with her favorite plush wand or make-up brush. She will allow you to pet her with your hands but doesn’t fully enjoy it…yet…

Bombay is currently living alone in her room and is now ready/needs to be included in someone’s normal daily life. Due to no fault of hers, the foster’s resident cat refuses to welcome her into the main house. Bombay enjoys lounging in front of the windows waiting for the birds, squirrels and her favorite, deer. She watches nature or kids shows and listens to soothing pet music. At first, all toys were considered dangerous, but she taught herself that hair ties and sponge balls are tons of fun and a leather boot lace hung just right is irresistible. She loves stretching her whole body to make herself look like she’s 10 feet tall! She zooms and can turn on a dime, then spin like a ballerina…just the right mix of silliness and beauty.

What can you do? Offer her a chance…a chance! A quiet home. A home with no pets would be best, or a laid back, chill cat or cat savvy dog that will choose to ignore her rather than interact with her. The best way to reduce (and eventually remove!) Bombay’s fear is to respect her space and give her plenty of time to feel truly safe. I am confident that in time, with your loving help, Bombay will blossom into an awesome companion, friend and family member. Won’t you please be the one?

Age-appropriate shots, MICROCHIPPED, and FeLV/FIV negative.
If you're interested in welcoming me into your family, just fill out an online application at https://www.catscradlerichmond.com.

Adoption Fee $180.00
