Boa's Story

We received an email from a social worker asking for assistance for her client who would not be returning home. We were given information that there might be two cats left behind in the apartment. With no designated caregiver, the superintendent arranged for a friend to care for them. As we later discovered, the cats were being neglected. The basic food/water and litter box access was very limited or nonexistence.

It was a very overwhelming and heartbreaking experience. Walking into a neglected animal situation hits you on every sensory level and no amount of mental preparation can truly ready you for the sights, the smells and the emotional weight of seeing animals in distress.

The one cats was under a table and as soon as I called her name, Viti replied with a gentle cry which made my heart sink. We were able to simply picked her up and place her in a carrier. It was almost like she knew we were there to help. We were not certain about a second cat so we searched the small apartment and thankfully we found her. She was a bit more traumatized by everything, but she was never once aggressive in any manner. I was able to pick her up and place her in a carrier as well. Mission accomplished!!!

Viti is still at our vets with some medical issues that we are hoping to be able to sort out and get her to a point of being a happy/healthy kitty again. Boa on the other hand has done so well and is ready to be adopted. This is what her foster mom has to say:

At first, she’s a very shy and cautious girl who needs a little time and patience to feel safe in a new environment. But once she trusts you, her sweet personality completely shines through. She becomes incredibly affectionate and cuddly, rolling around to show her belly, snuggling into your neck, perching happily on your shoulder, and showering you with little kisses.

She loves being close to her person and has such a gentle, loving nature once she feels safe. She would thrive in a calm, patient home that will give her the time she needs to settle in and blossom into the affectionate companion she truly is. She even gets along with the resident dog.

Interested in providing Boa with a second chance, please contact us
info@WeRescueCats.ca
