Blue, Cheddar, Edam and Brie's Story

Born May 5, 2026, Blue, Cheddar, Edam and Brie joined Mattie's Place along with their Mom, Feta May 15th.

Feta had likely been dumped in a community, as she just showed up one day in October 2025. Neighbours started feeding her and got her through the winter months but in May, Feta birthed a litter of kittens under a neighbours deck.

The community knew they needed to get rescue support, so we agreed to welcome Feta and her babes.

Feta is a young cat herself, maybe 1-2 years old. She is also available for adoption with her own separate profile.

The kittens will be adopted in pairs, so be sure to list BOTH names of the 2 kittens you are looking to adopt when completing the adoption application.

Feta, the Mama is about 8 pounds and arrived underweight, so presumably the kittens could be 8 - 12 pounds as adult cats, but of course, we don't know who Daddy is, so that could change everything.

The kittens, at their first vet appointment, May 15th ranged in weight from 0.4 KG 0.9 pounds. I'll update this profile when they are in for their 2nd vet appointment mid June, when they'll begin their vaccine protocols and continued parasite prevention.

Cheddar - orange male
Brie - calico female
Edam - grey female
Blue - grey male

Adoption fee will include 3 rounds of vaccines and deworming plus their spay or neuters in September, at our rescue veterinarian in east Toronto or Unionville, depending on adopter location. A supply of food, litter and litter box will also be included in the adoption fee.

The kittens will be ready for adoption the last week of June.

The adoption fee is $250/kitten, so $500 for 2 kittens as they will only be adopted in pairs.

FROM THE FOSTER:

EDAM: is a quiet and shy girl who spends most of
her time sitting with Momma or chasing the humans
feet. Don't be fooled, though. She's watching and learning!
When she ventures out, she investigates everything and
confidently explores the world around her.

CHEDDAR: Just look at those paws! He is the biggest of the
litter and is so sweet. This strong independent boy likes to explore but
is always checking to see that others are still
around. Cheddar was the first to figure out the food bowls and litter boxes, although he did use them as a teething ring prior to using them for their intended purpose. He is learning climbing -but stay close, because he hasn't mastered getting down yet. At this age, he is always ready to play and is learning what a scratching post is for.

BLUE: What a handsome boy! Blue is the first to come running when you enter the room. Feet are toys! Sweeping is always entertaining because he takes turns
riding the broom and scattering the dirt pile. He plays hard and sleeps well. He has mastered the litter box and is learning the food is delicious. Climbing is of new interest and he is learning the difference between furniture and climbing posts.

BRIE: Brie is the smallest of litter, but is growing and gaining confidence everyday. At first, it was difficult to coax her away from the safety of her momma (Feta). Lately, this little girl has found her voice and confidence. Play a musical instrument? Brie loves climbing on the cases and playing with the handles. If the case is open, she can be found snuggled inside. Brie is a quiet, gentle soul.

-----------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this cat in their current foster setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim, endorse, suggest or hint at, that any of our dogs/cats are hypoallergenic, low shed or no-shed.

-----------------------

$250 Adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical care required, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, litter and litter box, food dishes, scratch pad and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day.

Feta, the Mama is about 8 pounds and arrived underweight, so presumably the kittens could be 8 - 12 pounds as adult cats, but of course, we don't know who Daddy is, so that could change everything.

The kittens, at their first vet appointment, May 15th ranged in weight from 0.4 KG
