Bliss's Story

Meet Bliss –

Bliss is a truly special kitten with a story that will tug at your heart. Found by the Detroit Lakes Police Department in a pile of construction debris near 8th Street, she was struggling to breathe, wasn’t eating on her own, and needed leather gloves just to be held. Her early days were filled with intensive care—nebulizer treatments (sometimes with assisted respirations), syringe feeding, hydration support, and lots of work on handling tolerance. Literal blood, sweat, and tears went into helping this little fighter heal.

Then one morning, Bliss started eating on her own, and her life began to change dramatically. Today, she’s a thriving, playful, and affectionate kitten who loves to snuggle and will run to greet you the moment you walk through the door.

Bliss is full of sass and charm. She’s the queen of the side-eye and always looks like she’s judging your life choices (in the most adorable way). Her favorite spot? Your shoulder! Whether you're doing chores, watching TV, or studying, Bliss wants to be part of it all. She’s a goofy little sour patch kid, sweet one moment, playfully mischievous the next, and she’ll keep you laughing with her unpredictable antics.

Though she’s made incredible progress, Bliss still wheezes and sneezes occasionally (no longer medicated) and needs her eyes wiped to prevent discharge buildup. She will never be suited for outdoor life and may need future vet care for allergies or eye issues. But don’t let that deter you, this tiny warrior has so much love and joy to give.

Bliss is ready to bring her big personality and endless affection to a forever home!

Visitors to the shelter are by appointment only and after a form has been submitted online:

https://www.marshmallowfoundation.org/forms/
