Blake's Story

== HART ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://form.jotform.com/232960843545058

Blake is a survivor who loves to play, climb and investigate. He even finds the fun in cleaning the litterbox and will help you make a game of scooping. (Who could not use some cute company while cleaning the litterbox?) We have not X-rayed him, but we are pretty sure Blake has springs for legs, so get ready to be impressed by how high he can jump for a wand. Any toy is fair game for this little athlete.

Orange-and-white Blake LOVES food: wet food, sauce treats ... really any cat treats. He would eagerly try human foods, but his foster mom is teaching him that people food is not for cats.

When he first came to HART from a hoarding situation, Blake was a scared boy, and we are so proud of his progress. He’s gone from tiptoeing out and running away from pets to coming out when he hears a familiar voice and seeking attention. He is still learning to enjoy pets. The secret to Blake is taking things slowly and moving from back to front: Scratching his hiney helps his comfort level, and with a gentle touch and continued consent, you can move up to petting him around the ears and under the chin. He loves belly rubs, too. He must feel comfortable with every interaction for his affection to show. Blake likes to feel in control of his elevation: He is not a big fan of being picked up, and his foster mom watches his body language to see when he wants to jump down from being held. With patience and intention, Blake has really gained confidence.

Blake would do best in a quieter home, perhaps one with older children who can help him adjust and be patient for him to feel safe and comfortable in new surroundings. He would love a confident cat housemate to help him adjust or perhaps be adopted with either Milo or Benjamin, his friends in his foster home. We do not know how he does with dogs.

You will feel so special once Blake has chosen to seek your attention and when he unveils his personality. A patient adopter will be rewarded with his sweetness and possibly kitty kisses. When Blake settles his nerves and feels safe, he is a love bug.

Blake was treated for an upper respiratory infection and ringworm. We recommend an ongoing L-lysine supplement to keep his respiratory system in tip-top shape.

Born in April 2026, Blake is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Questions?
