Bitsy's Story

Senior for Senior 12/18/25

Bitsy came to ARC after being rescued with more than 20 cats from a hoarding situation. She and four other kitties came to ARC. Oddly, Bitsy was the only one of the entire house that was living outside in a shed. She was also the only one spayed... She enjoyed being united with the kitties from the house when they came to us. As you can see from the picture, she helped Macaroni and Cheese feel more comfortable with the big change. Now, she is more settled into her life at ARC and is showing us her true purrsonality!

Bitsy LOVES to eat! She enjoys wet food and will become a bit of a bully to make sure she gets her share. Other than that, she does okay with the other kitties in the FIV room (she does not have FIV, it's just the room that best suits her personality). We tried sending her to PetSmart to find her family, but that environment was not good for her. We brought her back to ARC and she is doing well in the room.

Bitsy is a little bit of a talker, mostly to let us know that she is hungry! She is sweet and loves affection.

Interested in meeting Bitsy? You can fill out an adoption application on our website, https://animalrefugecenter.org/adoption-application/. Animal Refuge Center Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The Animal Refuge Center screens all prospective pet adopters before adoption. Adopters must be prepared to provide references in order for an application to be approved. We ask for a veterinarian reference for current or past pets and we inquire as to your responsibility in keeping up with spay, neuter, vaccinations and other prevention. It will make the process faster and smoother if you ensure the information provided is accurate. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid ID, have a phone and be responsive. Adopters must be able to financially and emotionally provide the appropriate daily care, as well as required vet visits for regular check ups and in the case of illness or injury. Adopters who rent or lease their homes must have approval from landlords or property managers to bring a new pet into the home. No gift adoptions. The primary guardian must be present for the adoption and must agree to the terms of the adoption by signing the adoption contract. Incomplete or inaccurate applications are subject to disapproval for that reason alone. Pets are family members and deserve the same respect, planning and care as any other member of a home. Please be sure you and your family are ready to commit to a pet for their entire life (up to 20+ years), including difficult times, moving, a break up, etc. We understand that life happens, but it is important to know that animals surrendered to us and other rescues/shelters are scared and confused, and they can become very depressed and sick. When you adopt you are responsible for their health and wellbeing, do right by them and they will do right by you!
